Is possible to change idle speed with GM Tech II

Possible to raise and lower idle speed using a Tech II scanner?
GM-Tech-II
Look here – questions and answers from users and technicians
2003 escalade, found a TSB regarding rough idle, I need to raise and lower the idle by +/- 50 rpm. How do I do this with a Tech 2?
For the 2003, if the tsb refers you to a new calibration you might able to reprogram with tis2000 (depends on the tsb date).
Note that things can’t be done with the scan tool alone.
2011 escalade would like to know how to do a VIN reprogram/ relearn for the radio.
For the 2011 you’ll need tis2web.
Note that things can’t be done with the scan tool alone.
Is it possible to adjust the idle rpm with the Tech II?
You cannot change your idle rpm with the Tech 2. On some vehicles you can raise and lower the rpm by controlling the iac motor, but only for diagnostic purposes.
What do I need to be able to change my idle speed for cold conditions . ECM program adjustment? should be able to control it with cruise control switch correct?2002 GMC duramax 2500HD . (1GTHC23182F202689 – 2002 GMC VIN.)
your vehicle can the ecm reprogrammed for the fast idle increase. your local dealer should be able to help you out.
Which one Tis2000 will support escalade 2009 to reprogram with Tech2?
For 2009 you will need an online subscription.
I’m trying to change the idle speed on a 98 camro m6, ls1, with a big cam for a friend of mine.
Can anyone enlighten me as to the proper procedure to adjust it with a GM tech 2? He wants it specifically set with the ecm.
You cannot do it with a TECHII. Simple as that. What you want to do is considered editing, and you cannot edit with a TECHII. Period.
Only thing you can do with a TECHII is upload GM specific files, tunes, updates, whatever you want to call them.
Raising of the idle can be done using the bi-di controls in the scanner function, but it does not burn it to the memory.
Drilling a hole in the T-body does you no good, because without raising the idle in the tune, the IAC will just close up more, trying to get the idle back down to the desired speed.
I assume the same is true for changing the rear gear ratio?
You can change gear ratios by changing RPOs. Totally different thing. Thats still not editing. It’s changing what the computer thinks the car came with from the factory.
You cannot tell the computer the car has a 4.56. You cannot change the idle.
To correctly change the idle, you need to increase the base idle airflow, as well as the idle speed. You need to purchase a tuner suite. HPtuners or EFIlive.
Is it possible for GM vehicles to get the ecm reprogrammed for the fast idle increase. your local dealer should be able to help you out. How it works?
Connect the Car Diagnostic Tool Tech 2 and follow the steps below to program the ECM for idle up feature with PTO operation:
Turn on tech 2 and build the vehicle
select “Powertrain” (Or “Vehicle Control Systems” on later models)
select “Special Functions” (or “Module Setup” on later models)
select “PTO Options”
select “Change Options” (soft key at bottom of the screen)
select F1 “PTO Preset Speed Control”
select pto max engine speed set to 2200 – 4400 rpm (not below 2200)
Note: These steps will not allow the engine rpm to exceed the rpm setting, even during normal driving if the PTO switch is on
select stand by speed (base fast idle ) set to 1200 (this setting is initial fast idle)
select PTO set speed – set to 1400 rpm
select PTO resume speed – set 1700 rpm
select PTO max engage speed – set to 1800 rpm (PTO engagement inhibit speed)
select PTO engine shutdown – no
select PTO engage relay – no
select PTO feed back -no
select “Reprogram” (soft key at bottom of screen) “Waiting For Data” displays on screen-once data comes back verify settings remain
key off- until tech 2 “beeps” and screen shows “no communication” (Very important step if missed setting will not store)
key on – verify settings remain on list
operate pto
loading..

Feedback from GM Tech2 with CANdi TIS Works for GM/SAAB/OPEL/SUZUKI/ISUZU/Holden

I’ve got one and it works perfect on my 08

A few of us have them….. works great! Can also get to things like the rear air ride (if yours has that) which no other tool can deal with.

That being said I’ve seen on other forums where some people have major issues with their clones. Best I can say is I got my GM Tech2 from obd2tool and it works perfect.

It will come in handy sometimes. Now figuring out how to use all of the functionality will take a bit too. You can pretty much get right into diagnostics and whatnot pretty easy though. Programming takes a bit more as you will need to either install TIS2000 or pay for a short subscription to the ACDelco TIS system. TIS2000 is a pretty old program but does still have updates and whatnot for some things in our H2’s. The tricky bit is it runs on Windows XP. There is tons of info online about ways of getting that software installed and working though. The Tech2 will also come in handy for other GM vehicles as well and can give you a lot more info that most any other scan tool.

I’m pretty sure this one…. That is the same one I got a couple of years ago.

GM Tech 2 Feather:
1. Multi-langauge:English, Italian, French, Portuguese, German, Spainish, Korean, Japanese, Thai, Chinese
2. Update: via 32MB Software Card, when there is newer version, you can just buy new card to update
3. Year Coverage of Diagnosis:From 1992 to 2013, With Help of Tis2000 Software, It Can Do Programming for Cars Before Year 2007
4. Our GM TECH2 comes with with TIS2000 Software(CD)

How to Self-test with GM Tech2 CANDi module?

The power light on the CANdi module doesn’t come on when connected to the GM Tech2 .If that’s what you mean mine does not light up either. I think they should flash when linked to the car’s computer as that means the CANdi module is communicating. Bosch instructions:
12
GM Tech2 CANdi User’s Guide:
P/N 08002749 03/07 ©2007 Robert Bosch LLC, U.S.A. All rights reserved.

The Controller Area Network Diagnostic Interface (CANdi)  is an in-cable module that works with the existing Tech 2 components including the VCI, cables, and adapters.

Installed, the CANdi module is fully backward compatible with current tester functionality. The module powers up in a way that makes it transparent to the user. That is, unless the Tech 2 enables features specific to the CANdi module, all signal lines function as they do without the

CANdi module. This allows the existing Tech 2 software to be used with no changes, whether or not the CANdi module is installed.

The primary function of the CANdi module is to add CAN capability to the Tech 2 tester. The following list summarizes the basic characteristics of the CANdi module:

Supports simultaneous communications on three CAN buses

Provides high speed UART communications with the Tech 2

The Tech 2 commands the CANdi module operation.

When installed, the CANdi module does not interfere with any diagnostic procedure currently performed using the Tech 2. The usage of a CANdi module does not require any physical changes to the Tech 2, its cables, or adapters. The module operates in transparent mode until awakened by the Tech 2. Upon initialization, the CANdi module operates under master control of the Tech 2. All functionality is determined by the Tech 2 application software which is loaded on the Tech 2’s program card. The CANdi module always operates in slave mode to the Tech 2, responding in high speed SAE J1708 to the tester.

Physical Interface and LED CANdi connects to the Tech 2 by way of the existing Data Link Connector (DLC) Burndy Connector. The vehicle side connection remains unchanged using the existing adapter to interface between the Burndy connector and the SAE J1962 connector. When functioning properly, CANdi’s LED flashes. In the event of a problem, the LED will be constantly illuminated.

Warranty and Technical Service

Included with your system is a Warranty Card that must be submitted to Vetronix for activation of the two-year warranty. For technical assistance, please contact Vetronix Tech Support at (800) 321-4889 ext. 2.

Good to know: The Candi Module should not plugged into your GM Tech2 unless your working on a later car ..generally 2005 plus. Olders car from 96 should NOT have the Candi Module attached.

GM Tech2 Scanner Clone SP23-C Unbiased Review

After much debate with myself I took the plunge and purchased one.  Was going to get one through AliExpess but that turned out to be a nightmare……….Long Story, won’t get into it unless someone ask’s.  Anyway I purchased the one recommended by two friends of mine.
Now the wait begins for it’s arrival
Jan 14, 2016 6:08:27 PM
Dear friend,
Your order is being processed. Obd2tool.com will arrange shipment for you asap.
Best regards,
Joyce
I paid $349.00 + $137.00 shipping. It’s shipped form Hong Kong and it’s heavy. I have had guitars in hard shell cases shipped from Japan and the cost was $130.00 so I wasn’t skeptical about the shipping price. The case alone has a 4kg / 8lb shipping weight. If you don’t need a carry case, as some others suggested, go for SP23-1. I personally don’t test it.
Of course it’s a clone….real GM Tech2 run in the $2k to $3k range.
Some of the guys have clones and have reported that it works just as well as the original.
Now I know that there are several advertised at a lesser price and free shipping but let me explain myself for buying this.
Both my 2 friends recommended this vendor as the one to go with because of reliability etc, etc.
Got a confirmation email in two days from OBD2TOOL

Dear friend,
Your order has been shipped by DHL, tracking number is ******** and is estimated to arrive your place in 3-10 days.
Best regards,
Joyce
Tech 2 Scanner Arrived, Now the fun begins.  I ordered it on Friday evening and it arrived last night, Jan 18,2016. 5 days from order to delivery.
Here it is !
13-1
32 MB PCMCIA card
13-2
Tech 2 main unit
13-3
TIS2000 CD, DVD etc
13-4
13-5
full set cables
13-6
13-7
Package includes the TIS2000 CD and DVD along with the USB Key
TIS2000 lets the Tech2 communicate with a computer (Win XP/vista and virtual machine i think.) to download data. The USB key is for accessing the GM site to revise the PCM settings so long as there were allowed by GM.
13-8
ll I need now is for my laptop to arrive and i’m good to go !
This is what the GM service technicians use or would’ve used to service your car. No, not just a code reader. It is the most valuable service/ maintenance tool. I would certainly be willing to spend $400 to get the capabilities that tool offers.
I wound up purchasing a refurbished Dell Lap Top with Win XP just for the TIS2000 program and I can also use the laptop to view real time data as it’s wired up in between the Tech II and the car.
There are multiple levels of diagnostics that require a GM Tech2 Scanner to do that you cannot do with a code scanner. It helped find a misfire issue on a C5 Z06 which turned out to be bad valve springs. Next day l used it to verify ABS issues on a Suburban and initiate a throttle position relearn on a Tahoe.
I have used this Tech 2 to do a couple crank senor relearns. and recently did the Brake bleed on my 99 with Active Handling !!!!!
I have not done any reflashing with my clone GM Tech 2.  As far as I have learned by now is that the main use of TIS2000 is to update an existing PCM or flash a replacement (new) PCM .
As far as I also have learned you download files for your VIN from ac delco site by means of the TIS2000 first . Then you copy these files from the pc into Tech2 memory . Afterwards you connect the Tech2 to the OBD2 plug in car and update according to correct procedure . I hope you can confirm if this is correct ….
I can′t see any problem with reflashing the PCM using this clone.
Still testing the scanner and will keep updating review…
